PAS À VENDRE "Portrait d'Hella" 60x70cm huile/toile 2015

This portrait explores the harmonious relationship between figurative representation and the interplay of color and space, bringing together cool blue tones and the warmth of human presence. Through a nuanced treatment of color and texture, the painting moves beyond outward appearance to convey a subtle sense of the sitter’s character and emotional presence.

The woman’s vibrant blue silk blouse, accented by an elegant bow, serves as the composition’s central visual anchor. The lustrous surface and flowing folds of the fabric capture the light, introducing movement and painterly richness that contrast beautifully with the calm, expansive blue background.

Her gentle, welcoming smile and open gaze establish a sense of warmth and connection with the viewer, suggesting inner composure and quiet confidence. Her hands rest naturally on the table and her lap, grounding the composition while reinforcing the portrait’s atmosphere of ease, balance, and openness.

A flourishing houseplant with dramatic, sweeping leaves introduces an organic element of vitality. Its expressive contours echo the flowing folds of the silk, creating a subtle visual rhythm between the human figure and the natural world. Together, these elements transform the portrait into a serene, thoughtfully composed setting where human presence, botanical forms, and the expressive qualities of color come together in quiet harmony.
